I am available for sport event photography. Photography is a way I explore, see and experience life, but through the lens. It keeps me immersed in the sport and outdoor activities I love, but from a different angle. You will often find me with my Nikon or it's close by. Being an athlete I think gives me a unique perspective in sports photography. I don't always look for "the shot", but it helps me know when and where "the shot" may occur. But, what's really important is consistency in getting great images, minimizing post processing (I have a life, too...) and having fun.

I work as a Geologist by day, but my real passions are bike racing, xc-ski racing, trail running, sports & outdoor photography, raising a family, changing diapers & watching my 2 yr old son grow. I've been racing bikes for over 24 yrs, and spent most of that time as a Category 1 road racer. Lately, I've been racing Masters...maybe because the races are earlier, "almost" crash free and it's really, really fun! Work has been killer for much of 2009, so I have not been "on the road" as much this Spring..I just take what I can get. I've also been a wanna be xc-ski racer for 6 yrs. Judy, the real xc-ski racer of the family, has been a invaluable coach with my technique. I also love the mountains, hiking, mountaineering and climbing (brief hiatus), and photography. We've been bringing up our son Bryce into our circle of passions. Buck and Allie, our Black Lab and Golden Retriever, love the trails but it's "all about the ball". I have never seen a Lab have so much trail etiquette when skiing or hiking.

EQUIPMENT: I bought my first "real" camera in 1984. It was a Minolta 35mm SLR with several lenses (manufacturers of which I will not mention :-)) and teleconverters. I am a big fan of Nikon and am a firm believer it's about the glass, great lighting...and the photographer knowing how to capture great images. Some of my gear includes: Nikon D300, Nikon D200, Nikkor 18-70/3.5-5.6 G ED DX, Nikkor 70-200mm f/2.8 G-AFS ED-IF VR, Nikkor 70-300/4.5-5.6 VR, Tokina 12-24/4 AT-X DX Pro,Tokina 28-80/2.8 AT-X DX Pro, and SB-600 & 900 flash system. Future plans include: Nikon D700 or D3, Nikkor 24-70/2.8, Nikkor 105/2.8, and would really love the Nikon AF-S Nikkor 400mm f/2.8G ED VR (donations please!).
